Most investors spend years learning how to buy real estate… but far fewer know how to strategically optimize the end game.
Join WiscoREIA for a powerful and thought-provoking presentation with Troy Christnacht as he shares his full-circle journey from poverty to financial freedom — and the lessons he learned along the way about growth, wealth, mindset, and ultimately knowing when enough is enough.
After working in a paper mill, serving in the Army, using the GI Bill to pay for college, starting and selling businesses, and building a real estate portfolio over the last 16 years, Troy officially retired this year. In this session, he’ll break down the strategies, philosophies, and decisions that helped shape his path — from aggressive portfolio growth to long-term wealth preservation and exit planning.
Topics include:
✅ Defining your personal “Freedom Number”
✅ Building wealth through BRRRR, leverage & value-add investing
✅ Property management systems that protect your assets
✅ Cash flow vs. appreciation strategies
✅ 1031 exchanges, liquidation & tax considerations
✅ Mindset philosophies from Kiyosaki, Cardone & Ramsey
✅ Why “less can actually be more” in real estate investing
✅ Transitioning from growth mode to preservation mode
✅ Creating a life built around freedom, not just accumulation
Troy will also share the powerful “Mexican Fisherman Parable,” a timeless perspective on success, fulfillment, and why true wealth isn’t always measured by how much you own.
This won’t just be a conversation about real estate investing — it’s a conversation about life, purpose, financial independence, and building a portfolio that actually supports the lifestyle you want.
Whether you’re just getting started or already scaling your portfolio, this is a meeting that will challenge the way you think about money, investing, and the meaning of success.
Speaker:
Troy Christnacht

Troy Christnacht is a real estate investor, entrepreneur, and Army veteran who built his path to financial freedom through business ownership and strategic real estate investing. After working in a paper mill following high school, Troy joined the Army and later used the GI Bill to earn his college degree.
Over the years, he started and sold multiple small businesses while raising a family with his wife, Jennifer. Along the way, he discovered real estate investing and quickly realized it was the vehicle that could create long-term wealth and freedom. Starting with his first rental property 16 years ago, Troy steadily built his portfolio and officially retired this year.
Today, Troy shares the lessons, strategies, and mindset shifts that helped him grow, optimize, and eventually transition his portfolio toward long-term financial independence and lifestyle freedom.
WiscoREIA’s Appleton Meeting Always Meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the Month from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm!
Hosts: Geoff Possley & Kent Zaretzke

Geoff is a part time buy and hold investor with investments in the Fox Valley and Sheboygan area. He is a full-time aircraft certification engineer for Gulfstream Aerospace in Appleton where he lives with his wife Laura and four children Carter, Madeline, Rowen and Brielle.
Geoff got started in real estate in 2005, with very little REI knowledge, when he purchased a single-family home with the plan to do a live-in flip over the next few years. After the bubble burst in 2008 his focus shifted from turning a profit to simply breaking even. This led Geoff to step away from real estate for a number of years until he discovered WiscoREIA in 2018 where he finally was able to acquire the knowledge and network that was necessary to be successful in real estate investing. His goal is to use REI as a means to retire early from engineering.
Geoff currently invests in single-family and small multi-family properties that he operates as traditional rentals as well as short term furnished rentals. In his free time Geoff enjoys camping with his family, playing golf, snowboarding, hunting, and good beer.

With over 15 years of experience as a business owner, Kent Zaretzke has built a strong reputation for leadership, craftsmanship, and growth in the Fox Valley area. He has been a dedicated sponsor of Wisco REIA for the past 10 years, actively supporting and contributing to the local real estate investing community.
As a seasoned real estate investor, Kent owns multiple investment properties and is deeply involved in the renovation process, bringing a hands-on approach to improving and adding value to each project. His passion lies in building businesses, creating opportunities, and helping others achieve financial freedom through real estate.
