We’re opening the floor and inviting investors to share their real-life experiences — the bad deals, costly mistakes, unexpected disasters, difficult tenants, contractor nightmares, and lessons learned the hard way.

And you’re not just coming to listen. Audience participation is encouraged! Share your own story, learn from someone else’s mistake, and hear the lessons behind the deals that didn’t go according to plan.

Meet The Panelists

Luke Hafstad is a real estate investor and entrepreneur with hands-on experience in acquiring, renovating, and managing residential investment properties since 2019. What began as a single investment has grown into a portfolio of 50 rental units, combining both commercial and residential tenants, and evolved into a thriving business grounded in smart acquisitions, sound financial strategy, and hands-on management. His businesses have been built through strategic acquisitions, market analysis, and a commitment to providing high-quality housing while maximizing long-term value.

Beyond real estate, Luke’s greatest passion is his wife, Nikki, and their two daughters, Adi and Bri, who inspire him to pursue growth, balance, and purpose in everything he does. Whether analyzing a new market opportunity or spending time with his family, Luke is driven by the same values: hard work, integrity, and a commitment to creating lasting value for the people and communities around him.

Shawn McVicker has bought hundreds of houses for cash across Oklahoma and is now expanding into Wisconsin. With that many deals, he's seen most of the ways one can go sideways, and a few he didn't know were possible.

Shawn buys directly from homeowners and is known for being candid with sellers, including about why a cash offer comes in below retail. He brings the same honesty to talking about deals that went wrong, and what each one cost him to learn.

Hosts: Alyssa Burton & Lisa Mielke

Alyssa Burton is a real estate investor, agent, and entrepreneur operating in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Indiana. Founder of Inspired Investments, and Inspired Realty and Property Management, she has built a diverse portfolio since 2020 spanning single-family homes, multifamily properties, small apartment buildings, short-term rentals, self-storage, and land. Most of her portfolio is affordable housing, and fix-and-flip projects. 

Alyssa also has a passion for business acquisitions, believing real estate and business ownership can fuel one another’s growth. Her husband, Aaron, leads their business acquisition efforts, with their first successful acquisition complete (Smart Builders Group) and more to come.

Known as a trailblazer with big vision, Alyssa remains a constant student. She values the unique gifts, experiences, and perspectives every person in the room carries and loves bringing people together to connect, learn, and grow.

At the heart of Alyssa’s work is her Christian faith. As a Holy Spirit-led entrepreneur, she keeps her eyes on a greater goal: to run her race with endurance, kindness, integrity, and strength, knowing that God will equip for the calling. She founded nonprofit Inspired Retreats, Inc., combining real estate, her background as a mental health counselor, and faith to create spaces for spiritual rest, renewal, and equipping. Her greatest satisfaction comes from meaningful work and using what she has built to serve others.

As a mother of three, including a child with special needs, Alyssa has built much of this with a baby on her hip—her family remains a motivation and heart behind her work.

Lisa is a real estate agent and investment specialist serving Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 2022, she and her husband Johnathan purchased their first rental property with zero real estate experience. In less than three years, Lisa transformed from corporate engineer with a master's degree to full-time real estate investor and agent in 2025.

As an investor, she's built a portfolio of 10 rental units, and actively looking to scale, specializing in creative financing strategies that require less capital down while maintaining positive monthly cash flow- think BRRR method and seller financing. She also completes strategic flips in her local market when the numbers make sense.

As an agent, Lisa brings a fresh perspective to client service. She helps residential clients navigate the buying and selling process with clarity and confidence, often presenting sellers with creative options they never knew existed. She also partners with investors and commercial clients to identify and acquire profitable properties—leveraging the same growth-focused strategies she uses in her own portfolio.

When she's not sourcing deals, Lisa is a devoted mother who loves traveling the world, exploring new restaurants, and connecting over great coffee.
